MENA Entrepreneurship Lab

MENA Research Lab for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Data & Methods

We run field experiments in partnership with organizations across the region, working directly with founders, investors, accelerators, and public agencies to test how access to information, capital, and networks changes entrepreneurial outcomes.

We are also building the MENA Entrepreneurship Database, an open, harmonized dataset on entrepreneurial activity across the Middle East and North Africa. Data on new ventures in the region are scattered across business registries, administrative records, investment databases, surveys, and private sources, each with its own coverage, definitions, and units. We bring these together through a systematic pipeline that collects, cleans, and reconciles them into a single set of comparable, country-level series.

Each release is documented, updated regularly, and made free for academic and non-profit research. Our aim is to give researchers one reliable starting point for studying entrepreneurship in MENA, removing the time currently spent locating and reconciling fragmented sources before any analysis can begin.
